I'm a HUGE sports fan. How do I learn how to bet on sports and make a profit?
I’m a statistics junkie and I watch tons of sports. I usually enter the small office pools and pick em’ contests at bars and do very well. I’m looking to learn how to bet on sports profitably and possibly turn this into a career as a handicapper. I’m a complete newbie and need advice!

I’ve been making a very good living betting sports and playing poker for almost two decades. There is some literature out there on how to handicap sports but it is fairly basic. I don’t know what your level of exposure is to sports betting but if you need to start from the basics then I say check out twoplustwo publishing. They mostly do poker books but they will probably have some sports betting material. You might also want to look at Everyedge. They have discussion forums where you can talk to other sports betters. Again I find it a little basic but I’ve also been doing this for 18 years.
The other warning I’ll give you is avoid scamdicappers. These people will offer to sell you picks. They might even offer some for free for a while. Never give these people money. If they could actually pick winners at a consistent rate they wouldn’t be looking to make a few hundred dollars off you. Same goes for people who offer to coach or teach you. Again if they were making money betting they wouldn’t need the chump change that you’ll give them for coaching.
